How does Membership work?

Enjoy year-round free entry to the Hayward Gallery’s latest exhibitions and get the first chance to book for all our go-down-in-history gigs, blockbuster talks and sublime classical concerts. We’ll keep you in the know through our weekly Members’ update emails.

Our Members’ Lounge is open, and we look forward to welcoming you back for pre-show tipples and knockout views of the Thames. You can treat yourself to a wide range of discounts at our online Southbank Centre Shop and at our shops, restaurants and pop-ups on-site.

Southbank Centre Members have the chance to buy tickets before they go on general sale to the public, and presale tickets are available for Members on all of our events.

As a Member, you get 20% off at Southbank Centre Shops, both on-site and online. Check your weekly Members email to find the online discount code or show evidence of your Membership in the physical shops. 

They also get 10% off at Foyles, Riverside, Level 1, and a 10% discount on all venue hire at the Southbank Centre.

Members get 10% off at the bars and cafes across Royal Festival Hall, Hayward Gallery and Queen Elizabeth Hall, plus the Roof Garden Cafe & Bar.

You'll receive a confirmation email with your Membership number within a day of activating your Membership. The email also gives you some tips on how you can start using your benefits straight away.

Your payment covers a period of one year from the date we process your application. 

Paying by direct debit? We’ll take your payment yearly, but we’ll let you know before we do so.

At absolutely no extra cost to you, Gift Aid allows us to claim back 25p for every £1 that you donate to us. Gift Aid is a government scheme that helps charities like the Southbank Centre increase their income.

Simply log in to your online account and choose the payment method – remember that you’re still eligible for the direct debit discount if it’s your first time using that payment method.

If you set up a direct debit with us you’ll save money on the first year of your single or joint Membership. Your payment covers a period of one year from the date we process your application. We’ll take your direct debit payment every year, but we’ll let you know before we do so.

The direct debit discount is only available in the first year you take out Membership using this payment method.

Joint Membership means you can share all the benefits of Membership with another named person. You both get a Membership card, you can come together or independently, bring a guest each to the Members’ Lounge, and both get free entry to the Hayward Gallery.

Members' Lounge FAQs

No, the Member’s Lounge is open as usual. There is some disruption on Level 2 of the Royal Festival Hall from Tuesday 20 February, as we work to bring you a brand new cafe, bar, shop and Ticket Office. Thanks for your patience during the upgrades.

You can book a table using our website. You need to log in as a Member to access the booking page.

Please note, we require 24 hours notice in order to facilitate a reservation in the Members’ Lounge.

You can now book tables for two-hour slots, between 10am and 6pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, and between 10am and 10pm from Wednesday to Sunday.

When there are events on Mondays and Tuesdays, later slots will also be available.

Royal Festival Hall opening times

You can only book one two-hour time slot per day. You are, of course, more than welcome to stay longer if a table is free, but if there’s a booking on your table after you, we ask that you move to another available table.

Unfortunately you cannot request a specific table using our new booking system, but please do speak to one of our Visitor Assistants when you arrive who will be happy to help.

Members can bring up to five guests at a time to the Members’ Lounge. When booking online you must select the amount of guests joining you.

You’re only able to book for one Member per booking, so if another Member is joining you, please add them as a guest.

After you have booked, you receive a confirmation email. Please ignore the delivery method as you won’t receive an e-ticket.

Just reach out to the Membership team if you need to cancel.

You can still call or email us to book a table in the Members’ Lounge. Just state your Membership number, the time and date you wish to attend, and how many guests are joining you.

If you’re attending with just one guest, feel free to come along to the Members’ Lounge at any time without a table booking. If you wish to bring more guests (up to a maximum of five per member) we ask you to book a table to help us keep track of numbers.

Food cannot be brought into the Members’ Lounge, but we do have plenty of food and drink available from our catering partners Company of Cooks, which is exclusive to the Members' Lounge.

Tables can be booked up to three months in advance.

As we reduce the use of plastic, we're encouraging you to access your Membership digitally using your phone. You can do this by logging onto your Southbank Centre account and clicking 'Your Membership'. Just show this screen to our Visitor Assistants at the entrance of the Members' Lounge and the Hayward Gallery. 

You can also use this page to access your discounts when shopping in Southbank Centre shops, at our food market and in restaurants on-site.

Please do not leave your personal belongings unattended. Any items left unattended may be removed.

Gift Membership

You can buy your gift Membership today via our website. Find out more

Gift Memberships bought via the Southbank Centre website are delivered by email as soon as you complete your order.

Gift Memberships are delivered by email, so we just need the recipient’s name and email address.

Great news! You can get going with your Membership by following these steps:

  • If you received notification of your gift Membership by email, simply follow the link you received and quickly add your Membership to your account.
  • If you received a physical gift voucher, follow the link below to activate your Membership.
  • Select either single Membership or joint Membership, and then choose the one-off payment option.  
  • At the checkout, input your unique activation code from your gift Membership package. 
  • Once your gift Membership is activated, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your Membership number within a day of activating your Membership. The email also gives you some tips on how you can start using your benefits straight away.
